Jaw surgery in Hungary

Jaw surgery in Hungary is very popular. Thanks to the use of modern technologies and an equivalent education of Hungarian dentists, it is just as reliable and safe as in Austria or Germany. However, due to lower operating and labor costs, prices for jaw surgery services in Hungary are noticeably more affordable than in other countries. The removal of teeth is the most common procedure in jaw surgery. There are many reasons and medical indications for tooth extractions.

• Baby teeth:In principle, a baby tooth should remain in place until the permanent tooth erupts. Severe decay or an accident may necessitate earlier extraction. Sometimes baby teeth are also extracted on the recommendation of the orthodontist to create a more favorable starting position for the incoming dentition.
• Permanent teeth:These are not so easy to remove. The bone is denser, the roots are longer, and the molars are more broadly anchored in the bone due to their multiple roots. Some possible reasons for an extraction:
  • Decay has progressed too far
  • Disease of the supporting tissues (periodontitis)
  • Inflammation of a tooth nerve
  • A cyst has developed from the root
  • The tooth is badly fractured
• Wisdom teeth:With wisdom teeth, extraction can be complicated because of their shape with partially angled roots and their position at the back of the mouth. Often it is necessary to cut through the bone or remove a piece of bone (osteotomy). This is required, for example, to remove teeth or tooth fragments that lie within the bone.

Whenever an infection of a tooth has spread beyond the root tip (the apex) into the bone and even repeated root canal treatment does not solve the problem, a root-end resection may be performed. This can avoid extraction and thus save the tooth. During this procedure the gum tissue and the bone are cut and lifted to gain access to the root. The root tip is then removed together with the infected tissue and the gum is finally sutured back into place.

Cysts are self-contained, fluid-filled swellings. In the jaw they usually occur at the root tips and are almost always benign. As long as they are small, they go unnoticed by the patient. Cysts grow slowly but relentlessly. As a result they displace neighboring teeth and lead to the dissolution of bone substance. Therefore they must always be treated. In the procedure a bone window is opened over the cyst, its contents are completely removed and finally the wound is sutured. The cavity remaining in the bone can be filled with bone substitute material to accelerate new bone formation.
